If you are visiting Tivoli, don’t miss out on the opportunity to take a trip to Castel Madama, a little municipality rich in history and popular tradition, located just outside the town. In Castel Madama, you can find the Tio Pepe farm, famous for its hand-produced honey and homemade preserves. The Tio Pepe farm is a local small producer, a family-run business, whose genuine and delicious produce contains all of the passion for countryside and nature that is so characteristic of the Castel Madama area.

At the Tio Pepe farm, you can taste an amazing 8 different honey varieties: acacia, lime, chestnut, bramble, honeydew, woodland and meadow flower. As well as honey, the farm also produces propolis solution and beeswax.

Time seems to have stood still at the Tio Pepe farm. Part of the holding is devoted to the large apiary of one hundred hives. The apiary is managed almost exclusively by the farm owner, Enrico, who lovingly tends to every honeycomb to produce excellent mono and multifloral honeys.

What is the farm’s motto? “Nature according to Nature” and the utmost respect for the environment and that which it has to offer.

The farm stretches over roughly 2.5 hectares, including a centuries-old olive grove and a vast area of fruit trees, from which are produced the wonderful jams. Homemade jams including raspberry, blackberry, fig, wild strawberry, cherry and apricot, all made according to traditional recipes without the use of preservatives or flavouring. Perfect for a nutritious breakfast or snack, or indeed to use in your puddings and fruit tarts.

The farm also produces very good extra virgin olive oil: natural or flavoured with chili, rosemary or wild thyme. You can even find beautiful scented candles made from beeswax.

Visitors are also very welcome to take a tour of the farmland to rediscover the beauty and riches offered to us by nature!
